Five Points to Casual Wear

Probably the hardest ensemble to sport for men is the dubbed ‘Casual Wear’. Thing is, it’s the line between formal (business) wear and street wear. Unfortunately though, there are no universal rules on this - says so, too.

The judgment then lies on all of us.

I did some reading and found out some common practices that have become acceptable when it comes to men’s casual wear.  Here are five points to perfecting such ensemble.

1.       JEANS. It’s all about the jeans. Casual wear translates to comfortable wear that does not resemble everyday clothes and is presentable enough to wear within and without our work spaces. Jeans are the epitome of this ensemble. Pick nicely pressed and fitted jeans for this look. Avoid short pants as they would look too casual, thus streetish.
A chino can be an alternative, though.

2.       Collared. Tops should be collared. The best pick would be a white orthodox shirt. Playing with colors and textures would also be great, provided it has a collar. Cotton tops are also highly recommended. As for the top’s fit, it should never be neither tight nor loose. Fitted, is the word.
3.       No shine. A matte shoe is the best for casual wear. A common mistake of Pinoy men when it comes to casual wear is the ever famous, boat shoes. They are, by nature, for boating, yacht sailing and all those outdoorsy events. Pick a loafer, canvas shoe or a slip on leather shoe – again, minus the shine. A little grass stain is never a bad adage, it would make the look perfect actually.

 4.       Blazer. A blazer and nothing else is advised. A signature jacket that resembles a blazer may be an alternative, though. No hoodies or sweat shirts. Pick a matte full colored blazer. Do away from black or grey for a change. A blue, brown or shades in between would be great.

 5.       Watch it.  Watch the details. One can experiment with belts, watches and bracelets. But like with formal wear, the lesser the details, the better. To cap it off, a nice wrist watch would be enough.

In the end,
when it looks too formal – it is not fit for casual wear.
When it looks overly comfortable and streetish
then it is not fit for casual wear, too.

Trust your taste and you’re good to go.

Beach Wear and Summer Undies for Men

A number of this blog’s readers have been tweeting me
about whether I would be posting anything about men’s beach and summer wear
– especially about undies and stuffs.
So as promised, I have collated some of my personal picks
for men’s summer wear.

Men’s summer wear is actually simple.
Its either you opt for board shorts or go
and dare yourself to show some (more) skin with trunks and swim briefs.

When it comes to my personal choice for undies,
mine goes to BenchBody and Hanford.
But there are three more I like when it comes to providing cover up
(when only the essentials ought to be covered, hehe)

Let’s tackle it per brand…

First stop, AussieBum.

Obvious with the name, this Australian brand is a prime go to of most men, for just in case you don’t know, it has enhancers, size-wise, in some designs.

It has an extensive collection of swimwear trunks and briefs. See here.
It also has surf wear. See here

Amongst my favorites, are these.

Second on the list is Abercrombie & Fitch.

Abercrombie & Fitch has a reputation of making really stunning,
and sexy men’s wear that many gals (and even fellow guys) dig.

Its latest swim wear category is way adventurous.
Check them out.

Last but not the least is Billabong.

It has earned its reputation since the mid 2000’s
in providing high quality board shorts (and beach wear).

post note:

And since I have mentioned loving BenchBody,
might as well check their newest here.

Hope you have taken a pick now.
Enjoy this summer guys!

There are a few men of the brood that I admire for bieng style savvy.
This guy is among them.

SWAG and STYLE combined.

12:51 // a LookBook post

You came into my life with all your charm and sweet songs,
you got me head over heels when you came biking that night,
for it is me you hope to sing your songs to,
we kissed good night
and the fairy tale started

but now you took all of those fantasies

so with a sad heart,
today I took comfort in the sun's warmth
and a friend's blubber.

Individually, we have our unique features.
And the key in looking great lies on how we complement these features that make us standout.
As for the coming summer season, grabbing a new pair of shades would be a trend.
So before you start buying new shades,
here are some tips on
what type of shade would look great on your facial shape.

So I was being the usual me,
thinking of what to post next here when a follower tweeted me this:

Thus, came to life, this post.

I went through my usual go-to men's grooming sites, my favorite being GQ, has a list identical to this. I even lifted some suggestions from which. see here (GQ Australia)

So after some research, here are the best, in my opinion,
MENS HAIRSTYLE for summer 2013.

The brit vibe is still on, thanks to one direction, lotsa guys now sport english inspired locks. The western celebs also have got a rather 50ish, sailors inspired crops, not to mention, the booming KPop influence is also sporting a similar style, most of those recommended for summer 2013 men's haistyle are thin on the sides. Styling the top gives the distinctions.

Check these out.

We asian men, also have got all time favorites,
that are also cool enough for the summer

In the end, when picking a 'do
Your hair should give full accent to your features.
