Be Who You Are / Style 101

MEN'S FASHION
REQUIRES
YOU TO BE WHO YOU ARE

IT REQUIRES YOU TO BE
TRUE
TO WHAT YOU LIKE
AND WHAT YOU WANT

IT IS BEST
WORN AND SHOWN
WITH THE LEAST OF GLAMOUR AND EFFECTS
THE REAL YOU, THE BETTER
IF NOT THE BEST

LIVING A BIT ON THE
OTHER EDGE WOULD BE FUN
BUT DO SO IN THE THOUGHT OF SIMPLICITY
AND TRUTH TO ONE'S SELF

SO THE NEXT TIME YOU
WALK AND TALK
AND BE THE MAN YOU OUGHT TO BE...
PUT ON YOUR BEST SUIT,
AND SIMPLY BE
YOURSELF

THROWBACK

#THROWBACK

A sudden reminder of the past.
This can be brought about by hearing a song from high school, seeing an ex, puffing on a j in your old puffin spot, etc.
Similar to a flashback.

Now how is that?

I did put on a vintage tee
and the THROWBACK afternoon started.

CHILLIN'

Brent Tzu goes CHILLIN'
// a LookBook Post Made Possible by Nokia ASHA

Summer is fast approaching, and so is the heat.
And just recently, I and my dear friend Junie had a rather 'heated' encounter with the sun!
Imagine spending a couple of hours in shear heat - real, piercing heat.
Our office's generator set took a hiccup after a day's blackout and so
TO CHILL WAS MANDATORY, lols

Thanks to our newest best friend, NOKIA ASHA (tweet them here)
we killed some time and basked in the cool breeze,
while enjoying the sun's rage
by taking some of these lookbook snaps!

NAUTICA

It is not a secret that I am into Sailor inspired ensembles.

I actually keep a couple of nautical inspired shirts.
And so last Friday  when I happened to stumble upon a nice shop around the Metro,
a Sailor's shirt got my attention.

Here's my NAUTICA lookbook post:

GET THE LOOK HERE:

STRIPPED SHIRT //
I always go for a v-neck because it looks sleeker and matches my face.
For guys with  wide forehead and subtle  almost soft chin features,
a v-neck looks great.

Paired the shirt with an altered RRJ pants
that resembles a sailor's short

A folded hem gave it a nice, nerd chic look.

I usually go for aviators' shades but for this look
a classic VANS wayfarer kicked the ensemble.

And since canvas shoes are also great alternatives for boat shoes,
I used my RUSS for this ensemble.

...
So ready for some summer fun?
Might as well sport this look! :)

the WAREHOUSE

So it was, like any other Friday -
I was with my new office girl friend
running around the metro to kill time before we end up munching siomai.

We happened to stumble upon a store that sells shirts shipped from Thailand.
so I got curious, and the next thing I know am buying myself one.

It was way too cool it inspired me to come up with a lookbook post,
since the shop finds kinda reminded me of warehouse stuff,

here's what I've got:
THE WAREHOUSE

I bought a BOLD PRINTED tee

which by the way, is way CHEAP.

I had it to match my altered short pants from RRJ.

Thanks to a dear friend, my tailor, I've got my tattered old jeans looking anew.

A good old fold on the hem gave it a nice appeal.

With all those, thus came my
WAREHOUSE look

kicked the LOOK with my RUSS shoes

...
So there it went, my WAREHOUSE look

STYLE GUIDE | bottoms

There are a couple of things in a man’s ensemble that make of break a look. And for one, bottoms does a lot of this. A good pair of pants well paired with a complementing top needs just additional accessories, and you’re good to go.

To rock your look, there are two things to complete an ensemble. One, choose a top then match it with good pants. Or (two) do it the other way around. Give your pants the highlight by finding something that would further accentuate it. Accessories, yet again are adages only. Give the focal focus on the two main pieces and everything else follows.

So talking about pants, here are some of GQ’s featured bottoms for the month’s issue. Take a look of what may interest you, and let’s play STYLE.

The DENIM

‘The slimmest jean in Jean Touitou's arsenal of prime raw-denim cuts. The New Cure tapers closely from the knee to the ankle, resulting in a silhouette that works as well with a casual Friday sports jacket as it does a in your weekend wardrobe” –GQ

// available at nordstrom.

This works best with the casual look. Since the weather in the country colder nowadays, pair this up with your flannels (which nerd-chic nowadays love to sport). Looking quite preppy with the comfort of jeans is quite fun. It adds character, too!

If you want more character, pair this with a crispy white v-neck top and put that scarf on. Look Parisian without trying too much! (beat the cold, too!)

Demin is the getting a renewed hype. With the likes of Folded and Hung with their Dare Me to Denim campaign; and the likes of celebrity lifestyle blogger David Guison with his TopMan Denim inspired feature – there really is hype, so to say.

Light CHINOS

It’s a must have, I need not to say much. It’s perfect for work; where slacks are a bore and denims are quite too casual. These are best paired with a pair of boat shoes and basically just any top. Your orthodox buttoned ups are best possible pairs!

available at nordstrom.

SLIM STRAIGHT CUTS

Rock and refined. These pants would look edgy even when paired with a plain top. Add a nice blazer and you can head to a casual date, dine at Resorts World or basically hang out somewhere posh. It has that character in itself.

available at nordstrom.

At the bottom of all these, among these three personally picked bottoms;
Picking yet again what makes you feel comfortable is but the only best advice I can give.
